FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES – June 1, 2006 – Deadlines On Demand, LLC (“DOD”), a wholly owned subsidiary of CompuLaw, LLC, announced that it has officially changed its user licensing agreement to allow legal administrators, paralegals and legal assistants access to its deadline calculation services at www.deadlines.com. The DOD service is designed to provide legal professionals with reliable, rules-based court deadlines on a pay-per-use basis, while helping to protect their firm from the leading cause of malpractice claims – legal calendar related errors.
“Due to the overwhelming amount of user requests from legal support staff at our customer law firms, we have decided to make user licensing changes so that legal professionals can use DOD under the supervision of a licensed attorney, and can now benefit from DOD’s unique services,” said Joseph C. Scott, J.D., Vice President and General Manager, Deadlines On Demand, LLC/CompuLaw, LLC. “Managing deadlines is essential to a law firm’s practice and often the task of researching court dates falls on the shoulders of legal support staff, particularly in small firms. With a busy and demanding workload, legal staff are often short on time and need easy-to-use technology like DOD to complement their routine without requiring extensive training.”
DOD provides deadline calculations for jurisdictions in all 50 states including State, Federal, Appellate, Supreme Court, Bankruptcy, Probate and Family Law and much more. DOD’s change notification service (“CNS”) alerts attorneys of recent court rules updates. This service automatically sends emails to DOD users when new court rule changes impact one or more of their recent searches and provides a convenient link to rerun each search that was affected.
“Deadlines On Demand is an extremely user-friendly tool for law firm administrators and secretaries,” said Debbie Rose, Legal Administrator at Youngerman & McNutt LLP. “DOD's Change Notification Service (CNS) is really helpful for busy legal professionals who don't have the extra time to constantly check and re-check deadlines for new changes. DOD protects our firm from missing important deadlines.”
The DOD research service gives legal professionals a means to quickly and inexpensively calculate critical deadlines, without the need to install and learn software. DOD requires just four data inputs to produce results and the modest charges are tracked for easy bill-back to clients. DOD researches the rules, adjusts for holidays and schedules all deadlines for a single legal proceeding in seconds. Users can print reports, or download the information into Microsoft Outlook® or any system that accepts iCalendar files.
Because the technology behind DOD includes CompuLaw’s extensive library of rules databases, law firms trust that DOD delivers accurate, time-tested results. Currently, nearly 100,000 attorneys rely on CompuLaw to ensure that they meet their legal rules-related deadlines.
