Majority of Am Law 100 Firms Use DOD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES – October 24, 2007 - Deadlines On Demand, LLC (“DOD”), the leading automated court rules-based calendaring service on the Internet, announced today that sixty-seven percent of Am Law 100 firms (The American Lawyer's annual survey of the 100 highest-grossing U.S. law firms, published May 2007) are registered with DOD to assist with fulfilling their legal calendaring requirements.
“Although DOD was originally designed to assist solo practitioners and small firms, we have been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback from mid-size and large law firm users,” said Joseph C. Scott, J.D., Vice President and General Manager, Deadlines On Demand, LLC/CompuLaw, LLC. “Even when firms have other centralized calendaring practices at work, attorneys are using DOD as a safety-net, a double check, to verify that the critical dates they’ve calendared are correct. We find that an ever increasing number of firms are encouraging their attorneys to use DOD for fast calculations on the road, late at night or anytime they need accurate deadlines, yet don’t have access to their office information or docket department.”
A wholly owned subsidiary of CompuLaw, LLC, DOD launched in early 2005 to help solo practitioners and small firms save time and protect themselves from legal calendar-related errors – the leading cause of malpractice claims. Today, more than 25,000 legal professionals are registered DOD users, with thousands of deadline calculations performed to date.
DOD usage is expanding rapidly -- 78% of the top 50 law firms in California (California Lawyer’s annual survey of the 50 largest law firms in California, published August 2007) and more than 50% of Am Law 200 firms (The American Lawyer's annual survey of the 200 highest-grossing U.S. law firms, published June 2007) now use DOD as part of their legal calendaring suite.
Because the technology behind DOD includes CompuLaw’s extensive library of rules databases, law firms trust DOD to deliver accurate, time-tested results. Currently, more than 100,000 attorneys rely on CompuLaw Vision™ rules-based calendaring software to manage their matters and court deadlines. DOD and CompuLaw Vision provide deadline calculations for jurisdictions in all 50 states including State, Federal, Appellate, Supreme Court, Bankruptcy, Probate and Family Law and much more.
The DOD research service gives legal professionals a means to calculate critical deadlines on a pay-per-use basis, without the need to install and learn software. DOD requires just four pieces of information to produce results and the modest charges are clearly identified for easy bill-back to clients. DOD researches the rules, adjusts for holidays and schedules all deadlines for a single legal proceeding in seconds. Users can print reports or download the information into Microsoft Outlook® or any system that accepts iCalendar files.
